# Place categories

Sort places into categories according to your needs. You can then browse the individual categories and their places on a map directly in the member zone.

## **Module location**

You can access the module in **Management** \> **Settings > Place categories.**

## **Creating a new category**

-   In the top right corner of the screen, click the button with the “**+**” icon.
    
-   In the dialog that appears, enter the name of the new place category.
    
-   You can add a description to the category.
    
-   Tick **Visible on the map in the member zone**, if you want the category to be shown on the **Place map** directly in the member zone.
    

> **Info:** Places on the **Place map** in the member zone can be filtered by the categories you have created.

-   Then press the **OK** button to create the new category.
    

## **Managing place categories**

-   **Sorting categories:** You can sort place categories in the list using drag-and-drop. Grab the left edge of the row with the place category and move it to the desired place in the table.
    
-   **Editing and deleting:** Place category records can be edited or deleted at any time. If deleted, the category is unassigned from all places.
    
-   **Category visibility on the map:** In the category list, simply use the toggle to turn the display of the given category on the map in the member zone on or off. 
    

## **Permissions and access**

Managing banner positions requires permission in the **Settings** and **Place categories** modules.
