How to set up Web Push notifications

E-mail notifications are a good baseline for learning about everything important. At the same time, instant notifications arrive in the mobile app. But you can also receive notifications directly in your browser, or in the desktop application you can add to your computer. How do you turn on these so-called Web Push notifications?

How to set up Web Push

You will find the settings for all notifications in User settings, which you can reach via your initials, as shown in the images below. There you will also learn whether notifications are supported by your browser.

User settings

You can find all the information about your user account in one place.

The exact setup procedure is as follows:

  • Go to User settings.

  • Click through to the Browser notifications settings.

  • Click Turn on notifications.

  • Confirm the notification permission that your browser displays.

The notification delivery system

In User settings you can also check the other notification settings – those for the app and e-mail. If you have notifications enabled for the mobile app or the browser, you will receive e-mail notifications with a smart delay (4 hours by default) – but only if you have not read the notification in the app or browser by then. If you do not have app or browser notifications active, you will receive e-mail notifications immediately. That way your inbox will not be flooded with alerts you have already read in the app!

How notifications work in general

The EOS Platform sends all members a range of useful notifications – about payments, events, posts on walls and so on. These arrive in the mobile app, or by e-mail.
