Go to Management > Events > Event imports.
This feature is available to all clubs and organizations regardless of their focus. It allows you to import events from the iCalendar format available at a specified URL (e.g. from Google or Apple calendars). It is a calendar subscription, so events are then synchronized into EOS regularly by themselves – a change made in the source is written into the platform. The following is written into the EOS event: name, date, description, location, URL, attachments (into the description as a link).
You can import events into EOS from any Google calendar.
In the Google calendar settings you need to find the link:
Public address in iCal format – copy this link if the calendar is public
Secret address in iCal format – copy this link if it is a calendar that is not public
Procedure in Google:
Click the context menu of the selected calendar to get to its settings.
Find the calendar sharing or integration settings.
Copy the given iCal address for the subscription.
Open the Calendar application on your Mac.
In the left panel, right-click the calendar you want to share (it must be on iCloud) and select Share calendar.
Tick the Public calendar option.
A field with a URL starting with webcal:// will be shown. That is the iCal link.
Right-click this link or copy it.
Go to Management > Events > Event imports.
Click “+” and select the source iCalendar.
URL – insert the address obtained from your calendar.
Event type – select which event type in EOS the newly imported events should be created as.
Event types
Create and set up custom event types suitable for your organization. These will be assigned to individual events, which will behave according to the parameters set in each type.
Organizational unit – if you have organizational units created and the events should be assigned only to one specific unit, select it. If you do not use organizational units, leave The whole organization.
Season – select which season the events should be imported into.
Teams – select a team or several teams into whose calendars the events will be imported. If you do not select any team, the events will be imported for the whole organization (events visible to everyone in the platform regardless of their teams). You can also tick this option manually. In that case you will not find the events among team events, but on the Management > Events > For the whole organization tab.
Name – Write the name of the calendar/import, which will serve only for you and will not be publicly visible anywhere.
Leave Active ticked, if you want to start working actively with this import right away.
Confirm with OK.
After creating the import, on the Event imports screen you will see:
Name that you chose
Import source: iCal
Last update – the date and time of the last update
Next update – the date and time of the next update
Active – yes/no)
Valid until – the date and time until which the subscription will run
Event types
Create and set up custom event types suitable for your organization. These will be assigned to individual events, which will behave according to the parameters set in each type.
Converting and copying events
General events without attendance can be converted in EOS to any other kind of event. So you can turn a general event into a nomination, for example. Another useful option is copying events.
Otherwise you work with imported events in the same way as with events created manually in the Platform.
For some sports, importing events via API directly from the association is possible. These are:
Czech Ice Hockey
Czech Basketball
Czech Handball
Czech Baseball
Czech Softball
Czech Hockeyball
Czech Volleyball
Management permission: Managing event imports requires permission for the Events module.
